The New Prospect Church Cemetery Association was formed in 2021 to take the burden of cemetery maintenance and lawn care off of New Prospect United Methodist Church at 2018 Buford Dam Rd. Buford, GA.  The UMC is gradually getting away from having any responsibility for cemeteries.  Therefore, many families and members of New Prospect UMC with families and other loved ones buried there and with their own plans of being buried there, decided it was in the best interest of the cemetery to form an association specifically created to maintain the cemetery for lawn care and general maintenance.

Some graves date back to the 1800’s.  Individual grave sites are supposed to be maintained by family members (regarding headstones, coping, pea gravel, etc. as well as establishing a suitable permanent grave site after a recent burial).  There are some grave sites where all known family members have passed on, but they still need to be maintained.  Our association will do what it can to help with maintaining these particular grave sites.  Individual families are strongly encouraged to visit the cemetery at least twice a year to address any issues that need attention in their family member graves and their own plots not yet occupied.  

The goal of the New Prospect Church Cemetery Association is to ensure our cemetery is well taken care of from a maintenance, lawn care, and beautification standpoint.  Our new association can only operate on donations, so your help is much appreciated.

We have estimated an annual budget of $6,000.00 per year to cover the costs of general maintenance, lawn care, property and liability insurance, CPA consultation and IRS assistance, and any other unforeseen expenses.

We now have our 501(c)3 Charitable Association status.  All donations to New Prospect Church Cemetery Association will receive a donation letter for a tax write off. 

We hope to expand our website in the near future, giving you more information about our beloved cemetery.

51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
